Christmas 2021

We had a lot of fun making Reindeer Cookies and Christmas decorations this week.

We used arrowroot biscuits, nutella, M&Ms and pretzels to make our delicious reindeer cookies. It was a lovely treat!

Our Christmas decorations had a 'Xmas Tree' theme. We made a finger print xmas tree card, a glittery xmas tree with a candy cane and then a xmas tree ornament for our trees. What a great way to end the year.

Water - An Amazing Substance

For science we done gravity science and we grbid a cup and a cad and we pot sume water in a cup and we pot a bit of water and you pot the card on the top and we hlod the cad and you flp it over and you let go it levatas and it stas ter and it is dey cos there is  bubols in it and it is macks it stay there an it was fun.

 We are going to use different poems to help us practice our reading strategies.

Simple Circuits

 WALT explore different musical instruments and we are learning to give different types of music a go.

Asttle Writing - Narrative

Teacher Note - ‘UNASSISTED’ ASTTLE WRITING

The children write for a total of 40 minutes. Within that timeframe they have to plan their writing (a brainstorm) write, edit and re-craft their work. They are not allowed to use dictionaries or word cards. The students completed their writing on paper but have typed it out for their blogs.

Once upon a time their was a bad wisard and a good prince in the forst but he was walking but heheard a whispher but he sen nothing son he went in to a care so he slep there the next day he stol hrid it he folod the noise and sen a wisaed runing he tried to a tack but he codint so he hidid from her but he got a an in juredr leg so he stated to hid  he nindandhe escaped he wis but he dislocated his leg so he had to rest but he snapt his leg back to how it was he went back to the kingdom so they no the wis was sroing so say braing all the kingdom to fight there are gods but bad so they went to war a the wis spod aros ate them they had strong peopol all the kingdom and they got one sroing prisin in eis one.

Olympics

We are learning about the Olympic Games.

I liked rugby becas I play rugby and it is fun and they won a medal and  fiji won but  we came 2nd and they were sad.  Fiji said good game.  

Our Place, Our Stories topic

We have been learning about the taonga in our school and community. We have also been learning our pepeha. I have been practising my  pepeha everyday. I am going to say it to my class. This is our school pou when it was carved in 2005. This is Sir and Jada and the man who carved the pou.

Legends Assembly

I had butterflies in my tummy and Daniel went up and said his part it was time but my part was on a TV. After that I was embarrassed . We stood up and we played on drums and sang on our knees. The girls done poi and children were laughing. 

Jordan and kieran done their part and they neede food they had dry shell fish so then they went to steal kumara well not steal borrow the village found out and attacked and he ran and ran and ran te houtaewa got home and gave the kumara to his mum.

My Mum

WALT to write a description of our mum using precise words to create an image in our readers minds.

She has black hair and brown white skin. She likes flower clothes and colourful clothes. She likes makeup and she has a lot. She wears earrings and at home there is a cool one that a lady made and was made all of a tyre so she wears it a lot. She wears it more than everyone. My sister is like my mum.

When we wake up my mum has a coffee and after school we get picked up and my mum takes me home. We let Felix off the lead and sit down with Felix. 

My mums favourite colour is red and she is the best mum ever. She means a lot to me.

ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day makes us remember about the soldiers that died in the war. Poppies mean a lot because it was the first plant to grow on the land that they had war on we should remember them. My great great grandfather served in World War I. When we go to ANZAC Day we wear a poppy and wear his medals. Lest we Forget.

America's Cup A-Z and Dear Future Me

We have been learning about the America's Cup Yacht Race.set goals for our future self.

Peter Burling was the youngest helmsman NZ has ever had. He set a goal when he was 11 to race in the America's Cup when he grew up. I am setting myself a goal for 'My Future Self'.  

NZ Birds

I am learning to identify some facts about New Zealand birds. 

We read a book about NZ birds and I thought the facts were interesting. I made a google slide to share my learning.

The Great Reading Adventure

We are learning to write a moment in time about our class assembly, 'The Great Reading Adventure'      

Today is the day it felt like I had butterflies but I felt Better when some of our class started  to say their parts. My tummy twisted and turned I felt  anxious then when I was sitting I felt like every thing was black. Our turn here I go "what is that rotten gump you is eating snoss cumbers"  I felt weird after I sat down and I felt embarrassed.

Tractor Trek

 Lots of tractors  came to school and and it  was .cool and it was fun like it and Hunter made loud tractor noises the wheel was big and I hopped in one ring and my favorite one was the red one and the end and that was the one I sat in the most I pretended at I was driving. I really appreciated it  and it was amazing! We had so much fun and lots of action. 

After that there was a lady called Cat and she got Tame, Millan and Charlie to talking about feelings.
